Enyimba, Onuigbo part ways

Two-time African champions Enyimba have decided against renewing the contract of striker Ifeanyi Onuigbo following its expiration.
Onuigbo, it is understood, did not travel back to Aba with the Peoples Elephant after their Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) match at FC Ifeanyiubah, which they lost 0-1 last Sunday.
"Enyimba FC would like to announce the contract expiration of striker Ifeanyi Onuigbo. We thank him for his contributions to the team and we wish him all the best," the seven-time Nigerian champions stated on Thursday.
The power-playing forward was snapped up from southeast rivals Heartland in the mid-season transfer window.
Onuigbo, who has played in Libya and Vietnam before returning to Nigeria, did not score at Enyimba. His best attempt was a spot kick that crashed against the woodwork in the game against Sunshine Stars in the 0-0 draw in August.
He was also unfortunate not to score against Zamalek in the Caf Champions League when his headed attempt hit the post.
Before his move to Enyimba, Onuigbo scored three league goals for Heartland in the first round of the season.
