Former Super Falcons head coach Edwin Okon has described the side's group B draw at the upcoming Africa Women Cup of Nations (AWCON) in Cameroon as easy.
The AWCON draw on Sunday at the Palais Polyvalent des Sports, Yaounde, Cameroon pitched the cup-holders Nigeria in Ggoup B together with arch-rivals Ghana, Mali and Kenya.
The biennial football showpiece is expected to kick off on Saturday, 19 November in Cameroon.
Okon said that the nine-time African champions are assured of easy qualification from the group once they are able to get their act together with good preparations.
“The truth is that the group is simply, it’s an easy group if we get our act right we will be having the easiest qualification from the group.
“Our worry should not be on the old rivals, Ghana but the other West African foes, Mali.
“Although there is no pushover in the round leather game but there exist pushovers, too.
“We should be highly excited seeing ourselves in the group at the upcoming AWCON in Cameroon.
“If we work very hard we should be able to defend the title successfully,” said the Rivers Angels head coach to supersport.com.
The Super Falcons defeated bitter rivals the Indomitable Lionesses of Cameroon 2-0 in the 2014 finals at the Sam Nujoma Stadium in Windhoek, Namibia to lift their ninth African title.
