A 72-year-old man was on the stands despite heavy rains as Sudan unbelievably defeated the star studded Nigeria’s Flying Eagles of Nigeria to qualify for the 2017 Africa U20 Cup of Nations, billed for Zambia.
The Flying Eagles who had won the first leg 2-1 away from home on July 10, in far away Omdurman, only needed a draw in the reverse fixture to seal qualification for the African youth championships.
However, Sudan came from a goal down to stun their hosts 4-3 as heavy rains marred the second-leg fixture at the Teslim Balogun stadium.
A huge number of fans could barely go into the main bowl in order to protect themselves from the downpour, but a handful of Nigerian supporters showed a high level of dedication including a 72-year-old man, hoping to see their darling team scale the last hurdle, but their hopes were dashed.
