Eid-el Fitr holiday extends till Thursday 07 July 2016-FG
The Federal Government has announced the addition of Thursday, 7th July, 2016 as public holiday for the celebration of Eid-el fitr.
The extension, which was made public by the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Interior, Bassey Okon Akpanyung was at the instance of the minister, Abdulrahman Dambazau.
This declaration was sequel to the directive by the President-General of the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs and the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar III, extending this year's Ramadan fast till Tuesday for non-sighting of the moon.
The statement urged Nigerians to use this period of sober reflections to ensure harmony, unity and peaceful co-existence, while giving full support to the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari in his sustained effort to pursue socio-economic and political growth of the nation.
